The Municipality of Sotiras hosts on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at 20:30, at the Municipal Theater of Sotiras the theatrical performance "Filoumena Marturano" by Eduardo de Filippo from the Main Stage THOK directed by Magdalena Zira.

A few words about the project:
The great production of the Main Stage of THOK "Filoumena Marturano" by Eduardo De Filippo, directed by Magdalena Zira, is a bittersweet comedy that continues to write, for decades now, its own glorious history in the theatrical stages of the whole world and has not offers unique emotions to spectators, wherever it is played.
Written in 1946, Eduardo de Filippo's Filumena Marturano holds a prominent place in the Italian comedian's dramaturgy as a particular example of neorealism in which an entire era is concentrated.
The play takes us to Naples, where Filumena, a former prostitute, claims the place she deserves in the home and life of Domenico, a wealthy merchant, after several years of living together. The humiliations she endures and her accumulated bitterness force her to follow an old, tried and tested recipe and play her last card: she pretends to be dying, forcing him to marry her. Filumena comes out temporarily victorious, as, when the truth is revealed, Domenico tries to get rid of this commitment. In the end, however, a secret upsets the balance and drastically changes the facts.
A conflict between two worlds, a journey in search of happiness with the vehicle of the spartan and at the same time tender, romantic language of the author.
Having at her side a group of renowned actors of the new and older generation, Magdalena Zira captures the popular spark of the play, reviving its Neapolitan atmosphere, without missing the modern references. The exuberant heroine is played by the actress Annita Santoriniou.
