The "Anthology of Folk Poets of Ayia Napa" by Dr. Konstantinos Giagoulis is in the final stage of printing, and is expected to be released soon, with the initiative, support and sponsorship of the Ayia Napa Municipality.
This is a project of strategic importance that highlights and preserves the voice of the folk poets of Ayia Napa and Kokkinochoria, transforming it into a living lesson in history, tradition and collective memory.
The Mayor of Ayia Napa, Mr. Christos Zannetou, emphasized on his personal Facebook account that the Anthology is “a mirror of the soul of our place and a precious treasure for future generations.” As he pointed out, this publication “does not only belong to scholars and researchers, but to all citizens, because it functions as a living bridge between the past, present and future of Ayia Napa.”
At the same time, the Mayor expressed his deep gratitude to the author Dr. Konstantinos Yiagoulis for his invaluable contribution, as he described it, as well as to the publishing house Elias Epifaniou “for their creative collaboration and contribution to the realization of this important publication”. He added that the Municipality, as an institutional guarantor of cultural memory, considers it its duty to support initiatives that promote tradition and culture, “because without roots there is no stability or vision for the future”.
Finally, the Mayor called on the residents “to embrace the Anthology as an integral part of their cultural identity and to consider it a point of reference for our collective memory.” As he noted, “the Anthology of the Folk Poets of Ayia Napa is a work that unites us and inspires us to continue our journey with respect for the past and faith in the future.”
The official presentation of the Anthology will be held by the Municipality of Ayia Napa on a date to be announced soon.
