The forthcoming informal five-party meeting in Geneva to resolve the Cyprus problem was imposed at a very critical time in which our national interests are not favored at all. Not only because of internal problems but also because of international circumstances and interests. Everyone knows, especially the politicians who represent us, that in the international political agenda there is no provision and care for law and human rights, except for the National Interests of each state.

Even the UN Secretary-General is playing his own game of being re-elected in about a year. According to the articles of association, G.G. of the UN is essentially appointed by unanimous decision of the five permanent members of the Security Council and to date has never been overthrown by the General Assembly. Given that Britain is one of the five permanent members, it is not surprising that Guterres did not invite the EU to the five-party meeting on the Cyprus issue, thus satisfying Great Britain, which is now an adversary force for the EU. Or rather for France and Germany! The EU, on the other hand, supports with a strong verbal statement the solution of Biconical-Bicommunal-Federation and the decisions of the Security Council, but without insisting on greater involvement in the process. The US is currently pressuring Turkey in various ways such as e.g. the withdrawal from the F5 program, the recognition of the Armenian genocide, etc., but they will not hesitate to welcome it back into their absolute sphere of influence, giving significant exchanges that may include the Cyprus issue.

Russia has more serious issues to deal with but continues to support the bi-zonal-bi-communal federation solution, but knowing that this solution is not acceptable to Turkey. Russia is more interested in preventing Cyprus from joining NATO than in finding a solution. The neutrality of Cyprus, regardless of the type of solution, is the main issue for Russia. Nevertheless, it continues to have a firm position vis-.-Vis the Republic of Cyprus in the Security Council.

Turkey with the internal problems at the zenith (mainly of its economy) will come to Geneva with the demand of a solution of 2 states and with the now known oriental bazaar, it will finally do us a favor and will retreat to the confederation of two constituent states… Erdogan needs urgently another apparent victory for domestic consumption and will be presented determined for new challenges in Famagusta and the EEZ if we do not agree to negotiate in the context of the Confederate solution.

What is worse for the troubled Republic of Cyprus, however, is that all of the above has not been appreciated by the political leadership, which is dragged into this informal five-party system, which, however, is likely to cause new accomplishments in a pre-election period with the House of Representatives dissolved. . No established country in the history of the National Issues negotiated agreed to participate in negotiations in the middle of the election period. We may have been towed to the five-party system and have no choice but to participate, but the people would at least expect the political leadership as a whole to focus on this major national issue and postpone the June 21 elections, for example. is above all! Maybe this is one of the reasons why the people have a completely negative view of the political leadership, the parties, the parliament and even the leadership of the church. And it is difficult to answer the question, who does the citizen trust to represent him with credibility and confidence in negotiations concerning the future of the next generations and the survival of the Cypriot Hellenism. It seems that the thirst for temporary power exceeds the National Interest and as long as there is such a mentality, we can not hope for the excess that will bring us the continuation of the Republic of Cyprus and its prosperity!

The Cyprus problem is perhaps the longest-running issue facing the UN in the presence of a peacekeeping force, and there does not seem to be an acceptable solution, even with a painful compromise on our part, as Turkey has been envisioning the recapture of Cyprus for 65 years. as part of its review policy. The problem cannot be solved like mathematical problems that have clear data and demands. The geographical location of Cyprus has always been of great importance, which has caused and continues to cause a labyrinth of interests involved, not only for Turkey but also for the respective Great Powers. Our steadfast strength in this long history of wars and strife for ultimate supremacy is only one. The Greek Historical Presence for 3000 years, which has not changed those conquerors and if they have passed, must continue unchanged. Erdogan is a passing provocative threat of the first quarter of the 21st century. We must withstand the pressure it exerts on us in every way, but at the same time there must be a collective National Strategy, at the level of PD, Parties and Parliament, for the realization of the main goal of the survival of the Cypriot Hellenism.

Without any evasions and in any negotiation, an inviolable condition is the preservation of the Republic of Cyprus as it is and the changes in the Constitution, the laws and the distribution of power between the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot parties are negotiable, so that it becomes a united and functional state with a security system. supervised and controlled by the Security Council. Until then and in the transitional phase until the implementation of a solution, the Greece-Cyprus front is the only way out of security and resistance to Turkish expansion.

Only in this way will he hope to save the Republic of Cyprus from the guillotine of international and local Interests Συ
