Mathematician, journalist and scholar of the Cyprus issue, Dr. Kyriakos Kolovos, analyzes in Martinos Kyriakou the party-political history of Cyprus, the occasionally intense political divisions over the "major" national issue which formed the various intra-state socio-political identities and led to the creation of the Greek Cypriot party system, as well as the understanding of the formation of the dominant party strategies which influence and are influenced by the Cyprus issue.

Who is Kyriakos Kolovos?
Kyriakos Kolovos belongs to the first post-war generation of 1974 and originates from the occupied provinces of Kyrenia and Famagusta. He has a degree in Mathematics and a master's degree in Applied Mathematics. For the last 17 years he has been a Mathematics teacher in secondary schools. He also holds a diploma in journalism and a master's degree in "Communication-Journalism". In his master's thesis, he studied the televised debates of the 2008 and 2013 Cypriot presidential elections. In September 2025, he was awarded a doctoral degree by the Open University of Cyprus for the completion of his doctoral thesis, entitled: "Rhetorical Conflicts on the Cyprus Issue in Greek Cypriot Party Discourse, the Period 2016-2018: Dipoles of Confrontation, Games of (De)Legitimization and Processes of (Re)Construction of Ethos". In his doctoral thesis, he investigated the rhetorical conflicts identified in the Greek Cypriot party communication system regarding the Cyprus Issue, focusing on the strategy of the parties under investigation during the period 2016-2018.
