10 foods that are forbidden to put in the refrigerator - What are the dangers

Food: Most foods need to be refrigerated. However, this does not apply to everyone. Because, for some it is considered that they should be avoided to enter the refrigerator. Most people think of the refrigerator as the best storage space that keeps food intact and fresh for longer.

However, this is not always right. There are some foods that, when refrigerated, can lose some of their properties, and may even spoil faster. The following foods should be kept out of the fridge.

Which ten foods lose their properties when put in the fridge:

- Tomatoes: The best way to preserve tomatoes is to leave them in a basket or bowl on the kitchen counter. When we put them in the fridge, the low temperature affects their taste and texture.

- Potatoes: Never store potatoes in the refrigerator. Refrigeration converts potato starch into sugar faster, and when potatoes are baked or fried, these sugars can produce a chemical called acrylamide, which, according to research, in large quantities is dangerous to health. Uncooked potatoes should be stored in a cool, dark place.

- Food - Coffee: It is not uncommon to see coffee in the fridge, but this is not the best place to store it. Coffee has the ability to absorb odors. If you have it in the fridge, its aroma and taste will change. Store it in a sealed container in the cupboard to retain its freshness and aroma.

Bread: Bread in the fridge dries very quickly and is not as tasty. Keep it on the kitchen counter for three or four days. If you want to keep it longer, it is better to freeze it fresh, after first wrapping it with a transparent film.

- Basil: Spices such as basil, rosemary and thyme will dry very quickly and lose their flavor if you keep them in the refrigerator. Instead, place the basil on your counter in a glass of water at room temperature away from the sun.

The rest:

- Food - Bananas: If you have ever put a banana in the fridge, you will definitely have noticed the color it gets, which indicates that this particular fruit is not for the fridge. Cooling removes flavor and aroma and nutrients from bananas and tans them.

- Avocado: If you want your avocados to ripen, then you should not put them in the fridge. This fruit ripens outside the refrigerator. However, if you use half and then want to save the rest for later, then the excess can be put in the refrigerator.

- Food - Garlic: Keep the garlic fresh at room temperature. However, a mixture of garlic and oil should be refrigerated and used within a week.

Onions: Unless cut and cleaned, onions should be kept in a cool, dry, dark and well-ventilated place.

- Honey: Keep your honey in a sealed container in a cool place away from light. If you store it in the refrigerator, it will crystallize and its texture will deteriorate.
