7 tricks employers use in interviews to test you before hiring you

Nowadays, evaluating a candidate's resume and a formal interview with him / her are not enough to find the perfect employee. This is why employers have to use some tricks and most of them are so simple that a candidate can fail one of these psychological tests without even realizing that it was a test.

We were surprised to learn that an offer for coffee or tea may often be part of the interview that may affect the candidate's future fate.

1. You are offered a cup of coffee for a reason.

Recently, the "cup of coffee" test became popular among employers. At the beginning of the interview, the boss takes the candidate to the kitchen and offers him a cup of coffee. After the interview, the employer carefully monitors what the candidate will do with the mug - they will ask where to put it, they will just leave it on the table or wash it themselves in the kitchen. The head of the software development company "Xero Australia", Trent Innes, who created this test, says that this trick reveals a lot about a person's character and ways, more than the answers to real interview questions. It can also show how fast the candidate will join the team. The best decision, in this case, is to go to the kitchen after the interview and wash the mug yourself.

2. Your boss is deliberately letting you wait.

In fact, the "coffee cup" test is an innocent trick. The situation can be much more complicated if the interview is scheduled for 9 a.m., but while the candidate is coming to the office earlier, the employer is still busy and the candidate has to wait for 10 minutes. And then another 10 minutes. And then another 15 minutes. This trick can show how emotionally stable the candidate is in stressful situations and how much he is interested in this position in general.

3. Suddenly he starts shouting during the interview.

Raising your voice, screaming, and even using offensive words is another way to create a stressful situation and an opportunity to test the candidate's ability to resist stress. Experts advise you to stay calm and answer these questions as calmly as possible.

4. Asks you to jump out the window.

Another unpleasant surprise for a candidate may be hidden behind an eccentric request - for example, jump out the window. In this case, the employer wants to see the candidate's ability to think "outside the box". You can use the following way to avoid this situation: go to the window sill, but jump to the floor of the interview room . Nobody specified where to land. Or you can shock the boss by asking the opposite question with a win-win option: "How will the company benefit from my jump?"

5. The employer suddenly starts behaving strangely.

Another trick is when the employer starts behaving strangely. The candidate can be ignored by the employer, either by looking at his computer screen or answering a phone call and leave the room in the middle of the interview.

This trick can show how the candidate will refocus the researcher's attention or what ways he / she will find to get out of this situation. One of the most effective options is to ask the employer to reschedule the interview for another day.

6. Introduces the candidate to the rest of the team.

It is possible for the boss to offer the candidate the opportunity to communicate with potential colleagues after the interview. It can be in the office or after work. This is not a simple polite gesture - it is the employer's way of finding out what his employees think about the candidate.

7. The employer throws the pen on the floor.

Another test that can help the employer identify responsive and well-meaning candidates is to drop a pen and monitor the applicant's reaction. If the candidate instinctively bends over and picks up the pen, they are likely to be hired. If the applicant lets the employer do it, it is likely that he will not be hired.
