From red to orange the warnings - In the heat of today

New (orange) warning for extremely high temperatures will be in effect today, from 12 noon until 17.00.

Cyprus is still affected by a hot gas mass.

Today the weather will be mostly clear. The winds will be initially variable, weak 3 beauforts to gradually become southwesterly to northwesterly, weak to moderate 3 to 4 beauforts and temporarily on the leeward coast, up to strong 5 beauforts. The sea will be a little turbulent but locally in the west and south it will become up to turbulent. The temperature will rise to around 42 degrees inland, around 33 on the west coast, around 36 on the rest of the coast and around 35 degrees in the higher mountains.

The night the weather will be mostly clear. The winds will blow northwest to northeast and on the north coast southeast, weak 3 Beaufort.

The sea will be a little turbulent in the west and north but in the south and east it will become calm to a little turbulent. The temperature will drop to around 23 degrees inland, on the south and east coasts, around 21 degrees on the rest of the coast and to 20 degrees in the higher mountains.

On Sunday:, on Monday and Tuesday the weather will be mostly clear.

The temperature will drop slightly on Sunday while for Monday and Tuesday a slight increase is expected, remaining at levels that are above the climatic averages.
