Potato sprouts: Cooking with potatoes is something common in Greek cuisine. Potatoes are one of the most basic foods in any home.
They are a food ideal for something fast, delicious, different, strange or anything else imaginable. That is why we all get used to procuring potatoes in large quantities and storing them in our kitchen or warehouse.
But what happens when the time passes and we have not had time to cook them? They begin to sprout and soften. To avoid this situation and keep them fresh for as long as possible, follow these simple tips.
- Do not store them in the refrigerator. With this wrong way of preservation, the starch is converted into glucose, with the result that their taste and texture are not satisfactory after cooking.
- For the best preservation, prefer to store them in a dry, cool and dark place. The storage room of your house is probably the ideal place for something like this, while if there is no space that combines all this, at least make sure to place them even in a place without light.
- In order not to spoil the potatoes and sprout: store them in a dark place and put 2-3 apples in the basket where we keep them! Try it!

- Avoid direct contact of the potato with the cement or its storage in nylon bags. The best way is to put them in a paper bag, where the potatoes can "breathe".
