A total lunar eclipse will occur on Friday, which will not be visible from Cyprus due to the time it will occur. However, it will be visible on the American continent.
According to the Fakas Tutoring Observatory, on Friday, March 14, 2025, we will have the phenomenon of a Total Lunar Eclipse, which will be invisible from Cyprus, because it will begin at 07:09am and end at 10:48am.
As is evident from the hours of the eclipse, it will occur after sunrise, therefore it will not be visible from Cyprus, it is reported.
It is noted that those who will be able to see the phenomenon are the residents of the American continent and surrounding areas, areas where the sun has not risen at that time.
During a lunar eclipse, the Earth intervenes between the Moon and the Sun and thus hides the Sun from the Moon, meaning the Moon enters the Earth's shadow.
During the eclipse, the Moon does not become invisible, as happens with the Sun during solar eclipses, because the Earth's atmosphere strongly refracts and scatters the Solar radiation and thus the Moon is indirectly visible, and not directly from the Sun.
This results in the Moon entering the Earth's shadow starting to change color and turn red, so instead of becoming invisible, it becomes red, since the Earth's atmosphere refracts and directs the red radiation towards the Moon, resulting in an Earthly observer seeing it as red.
For this reason, when we have a total lunar eclipse, the moon is also called a red moon or blood moon, the announcement concludes.
