With many Easter excursionists gradually returning to their "base" and the opening of schools now counting down, many are already looking to the next holidays and opportunities for rest in 2026.
The calendar may no longer be filled with many consecutive three-day weekends, however two stand out, offering the first "respites" for workers and students.
The first great opportunity for rest is Labor Day, which "falls" on Friday, May 1. This is followed by the three-day Holy Spirit holiday, on Monday, June 1, which is traditionally one of the most popular periods for short getaways before the peak of summer.
