Saint Epiphanius
He was born around 315 in the settlement of Bisandouki near Eleftheropolis in Palestine to Christian parents of Jewish origin.
At a young age he entered the monastic life and associated with many religious groups (even some that were accused of heresy) in order to come into contact with all forms of Christian life and thought of his time. In addition, he studied in Alexandria where he acquired significant theological training and a rich or otherwise moderate classical education while knowing five languages (Greek, Hebrew, Latin, Syriac and Coptic). Later he founded a monastery in his hometown, which he took over the administration of for thirty years, acquiring the reputation of a saint.
In 367 he was elected bishop of Constantia (a name given to Salamis in Cyprus in honor of the emperor Constantius II who rebuilt it), a position he held until his death, achieving the separation of the bishoprics of Cyprus from the Church of Antioch and their union with the corresponding one of Alexandria, with which there was doctrinal (acceptance of consubstantiality) and administrative coexistence (Athanasius, unlike the bishop of Antioch, did not claim sovereign rights over the bishoprics of the island). He died in 403 at sea, while returning to Cyprus from Constantinople, where he had gone on the occasion of the issue of Origenism.
Apolitikion
Echo a. Citizen of the desert.
The two hypocrites of the anarchic divinity, of the theotyped dogmas, the all-wise expounders, together with Epiphanius the Close, let us praise the divine Germanicus as the brilliant guides of the mysteries, they inflame them, crying out: glory to him who crowned you, glory to him who exalted you, glory to him who confirmed the Orthodox faith through you.
