Dehumidifying car windows from moisture is a daily headache for drivers in the winter.

Many are not sure how to break the windows in the car and start (because they are in a hurry to leave) without good visibility. This, of course, is extremely dangerous.

Defogging car windows: The combination of settings that make the process faster

Mark Rober has a unique way of making science understandable. By common sense, he explains on his YouTube channel what is the best way to clear the car windows twice as fast as you probably already do.

First, Rober explains the science behind it all in a fun and understandable way. He then clearly explains the results of his experiment and challenges viewers to try it out for themselves to see if it works for them.

Mark sat down and found which combination of settings in the car leads to faster windshield defogging.

Defogging car windows: The 4 parameters that determine the result

Car radiators
Air Condition function
Air circulation in the cabin
How open the windows are

The right combination is:

Put the radiator on the largest ladder for HOT air: The hot air absorbs more moisture.
Open the Air Condition: It absorbs moisture from the air as it passes through the cold pipes.
Select the air inlet inside the cabin from the outside: The cold winter air does not retain much moisture, so if you bring it inside the cabin and then heat it (with the radiator) then a lot of moisture is absorbed from the atmosphere.
Open the windows a little: Even a few seconds will help the moist air to leave the cabin and cold, dry air to enter from outside.
