Fan Card: Number of episodes and arrests after the measure was implemented

Within 15 days, there were three clashes in football matches inside and outside the field, both in games where the Fan Card is applied and in those that are not applied. 

SigmaLive recorded and presents all the cases that occurred from the application of the Fan Card in August 2018, inside the stadiums or around the stadiums or even clashes between fans in various places (eg roads or outside organized links), cases that do not involve the Fan Card law.

Specifically, from August 2018 until today, in first division matches where the fan card is valid, there have been 18 cases, 35 arrests and 24 criminal convictions.

There were 5 cases and 12 arrests in street fights or in second division matches or in Youth matches.

Episodes between off-field fans and matches not covered by the fan card:

There were three incidents in Limassol with clashes between fans of the AEL - APOLLON teams, where 4 people were arrested.

At the same time, episodes resulting in the slight injury of the coach of the Paphos team, occurred in the recent match of Youth (U19) PAFOS - APOEL on (20/11).

The episodes took place inside the stadium, while so far 7 arrests have been made, while 4 more people are wanted.

The last incident with episodes inside the stadium occurred on (4/12) in the football match of the second category between ENP and Omonia on May 29 at the Tassos Markou stadium.

One police officer and three ENP fans were slightly injured in the incidents, vehicles of the ENP fans were damaged, while a 28-year-old man was arrested.

Police have released six photos of wanted individuals for the incidents.

First division football matches where the fan card is valid:

The cases concerning the first category are incidents with flares, crackers, or even throwing objects inside the field of play.

In 2018 until 30/07/2019 there were 7 cases inside the stadiums with 15 arrests, 12 criminal convictions, 2 were minors and 1 case is still pending.

In 2019 until 10/03/2020 where the championship was interrupted due to the Covid19 pandemic, 5 cases were recorded, 11 arrests were made, 9 criminal convictions, of which 2 were minors.

In 2020 until 24/11/2021, there were 5 cases, 7 arrests, 3 criminal convictions, 2 cases pending and 2 were minors.

The last case that occupied the Police for incidents inside the field was in the football match between APOEL - Omonia at GSP on 29/11/2021.

Two people were located through the closed security circuit of the GSP Stadium, before and at the start of the football match, one throwing a cracker inside the field and the other using a torch. Both men, after being questioned, were charged in writing.

There is a special procedure for all minors, which is applied by the Police.

For all of the above, the Police requested the deprivation of a fan card from the KOA.

* The cases are not explained in detail for which matches they concern so that the involved and the arrested are not "photographed".
