Lionel Messi's Argentina have been crowned world champions after a sensational final against France at the 2022 World Cup.
The regular duration of the match ended 2-2, the match went to extra time (3-3) and finally the title was decided in the penalty shoot-out (4-2).
This is Argentina's first world title since 1986 - led by Diego Maradona - and third overall. Thus, Lionel Messi acquired the only title that was missing from his palmare.
In the first half, Argentina seemed to "finish" the final, as they took a 2-0 lead. Messi opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a penalty and Angel Di Maria doubled the goals in the 36th minute.
But everything changed within two minutes in the second half. Kylian Mbappé initially by executing a penalty in the 80' reduced to 2-1 and two minutes later sent the ball into the net again, bringing the match into balance.
