Michalis Constantinou was a source of inspiration for every young Cypriot footballer, paving the way for other Cypriots to compete at the top level in Greece, emphasized KOP President Haris Loizides.
According to the KOP, in his greeting at the event organized last night by the Paralimni Youth Union at the Paralimni Derynia Town Hall, in honor of Michalis Konstantinos, Mr. Loizides said that Michalis is a worthy son of Paralimni, "who honored Paralimni, Cypriot football and Cyprus with his ethos and career."
Mr. Loizides presented an honorary plaque to Michalis Konstantinou, as a sign of recognition for his contribution and journey in Cypriot football and the National Team.
As noted, Michalis Konstantinou has written his name in golden letters in the history of Cypriot football.
For approximately twenty years, from 1994 to 2013, he had an excellent career full of titles, goals and distinctions in Cyprus and Greece and is rightly considered one of the top Cypriot footballers of all time.
He remains the all-time leading scorer for the National Team with 32 goals in 85 appearances, a record that is unlikely to be broken in the coming years.
According to the KOP archive, Michalis Constantinou was registered in the Federation's registry on October 7, 1992 as a footballer for the Paralimni Youth Association and before turning twenty, in 1997, he emerged as the top scorer of the Championship with 17 goals.
He followed a brilliant football career with Iraklis Thessaloniki, Panathinaikos, Olympiacos Piraeus, Omonia Nicosia, Anorthosis and AEL, where he ended his career in 2013.
The National Team was always a priority in his career, with which he celebrated great victories and scored important goals.
