In the quarterfinals of Indian Wells, for the first time in her career, the Greek tennis player Maria Sakkari qualified, after the injury and the withdrawal of the Australian, Daria Gavrilova-Savig, in the middle of the first set.
Sakkari, No. 6 in the world rankings, had a 4-1 lead in games until Savig's departure.
