From January 7, the renewal of traffic licenses for 2019 begins

The renewal of traffic licenses for 7 starts on January 2019, announced today the Department of Road Transport, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works.

According to an announcement, the traffic licenses will be renewed on the internet, at the address http://rtd.mcw.gov.cy, in Commercial Banks, in the Citizen Service Centers, in the provincial offices of the Postal Services Department and in the provincial offices of the Road Department Transport (Nicosia at headquarters).

The last date for the renewal of marketing authorizations is Monday 11.3.2019.

Marketing authorizations can be renewed for a period of three, six, nine and twelve months.

It is emphasized that based on the current legislation, the marketing licenses will be renewed until Monday, March 11.3.2019, XNUMX, free of charge.

Pursuant to the same legislation, for renewals of marketing authorizations, which will take place after Monday 11.3.2019, the sum of the amount of 10 euros and an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the license will be imposed as a charge on the marketing authorization corresponding to the amount due for the current year.

The control of the vehicles will start on Tuesday 12.3.2019 and from this date the Police and the Department of Road Transport (TOM) will report those who drive vehicles without a valid license.

For the renewal of the marketing authorization there must be a certificate of conformity in force and security.

TOM advises everyone to take care of the renewal of the registration of their vehicle in time and not to wait for the last days, in order to avoid a possible overload of the system that can cause inconvenience.

It is reminded and emphasized that those who had renewed the registration of their vehicle in 2018, but do not intend to renew it for 2019 should submit to the Department of Road Transport an application to immobilize the vehicle, by completing the form TOM12A.

Otherwise, the obligation to pay the amount corresponding to the registration fee continues to exist as a civil debt owed to the Republic.

In addition, in case of destruction of the vehicle, the owners must submit to the offices of TOM or KEP or to the provincial offices of the Department of Postal Services a request to cancel the registration of the vehicle (form TOM 98A) accompanied by the "Certificate of Destruction issued" vehicle waste treatment, to be released from the obligation to pay road tax from the date of destruction of the vehicle.

The marketing licenses can be renewed at the offices of TOM, KEP, at the provincial offices of the Department of Postal Services and online throughout the year.

It is reminded and emphasized that notifications will not be sent to the registered owners, for the renewal of the marketing licenses.
