Nissan X-Trail: Inspired by Qashqai and hybrid power

The fourth generation of the X-Trail has already started in Japan and is preparing for its European premiere, which is expected in the new year.

The starting point for the new X-Trail will be the CMF-C architecture on which the Qashqai is based, which also means that the largest SUV will be available from the start with hybrid technology.

Specifically, in the case of the X-Trail, e-Power technology is expected to be translated into the combination of a four-cylinder 1,5-liter gasoline engine with an electric motor, which will ensure 186 horsepower and 330 Nm of torque.

As in the case of other hybrid models of the Japanese brand, the gasoline engine assumes the role of generator, charging the battery with the electric motor undertaking to move the wheels.

This device ensures, according to Nissan, maximum efficiency and the driving characteristics of a purely electric model.

Of course, the options of the X-Trail will include four-wheel drive, although at the moment the exact technical characteristics of this version have not been announced, which in addition to four-wheel drive will offer most configurations through the drivers.

In terms of design, the X-Trail will draw on the Qashqai, acquiring a sharper and sportier look commensurate with the features it will offer.

The available technology, both in terms of assistance systems and the digital sector, will be significantly upgraded compared to the past.

Regarding the first part, the specifications of the new X-trail are expected to include the ProPilot system and all that this implies in terms of surveillance systems and possibilities of semi-autonomous driving.

Another advantage that will result from the transition to a new architecture is a more efficient layout that will provide more space and is expected to allow the X-Trail to choose between a five-seater and a seven-seater layout.
