With William Shakespeare's masterpiece "Richard II", which is being performed by the Dentro Theater and directed by Leandros Taliotis, the Ayia Napa Municipality's Quarterly Theatrical Performances will be presented on Wednesday, February 05, 2025.
The play follows the journey of Richard II, a young monarch who, through his downfall, discovers his true identity. A noble but weak character, whose detachment from reality leads him to destruction.
A performance that highlights Shakespeare's masterful art in depicting the king's gradual awakening, as betrayal and abandonment surround him, explores the limits of power and the tragic fall of a king, and illuminates man's eternal struggle with power and himself.
Through a shocking journey of self-discovery, the deposed king discovers his true royal identity at the very moment he loses his crown. The play is set in the historical context of the events that sparked the Wars of the Roses, constituting a profound study on the nature of power, identity and human consciousness.
The performance will take place at the Ayia Napa Municipal Theater, at 20:00 PM. Free admission.
