The local product of Kokkinochoria had its honorary last night. The 7th Pancyprian Potato Festival was held in Avgorou in the presence of a large crowd and the Deputy Minister of Tourism.
Jam, sweet, soap and potato face cream were just some of the preparations presented yesterday during the seventh Pancyprian Potato Festival in the Community of Avgorou.
Many people went to the Community Stadium to try the predominantly traditional product of Avgoros and Kokkinochoria in a festival which was held with great success.
The President of the Community of Avgoros, Panagiotis Michailas stated that "Today, the cultivation of Cypriot potatoes has evolved to a great extent, through trade it has managed to become world famous and especially in European countries that prefer Cypriot potatoes."
In his turn, the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Savvas Perdios stated that "The region of Avgoros, Cyprus has achieved a lot in terms of the agricultural sector and especially in the cultivation of potatoes. What fills me personally with a lot of pride is what I saw tonight, the various products we can produce with the potato and as the President of the Community said, this can be the trigger for young people in the farming profession, in the cultivation of potatoes. ”
The artistic program was enriched by the presence of George Margaritis, Lena Papadopoulou and Droulias Brothers.
