Imachi Painting Exhibition, Occupied Famagusta, Nea Famagusta

The Municipality of Famagusta organizes a painting exhibition by Umit Inatci (Umit Inaci) in Saturday, May 18 at 7:00 p.m. at the Cultural Center of the Municipality in Deryneia.

Umit Inaci, is the artist who fought for decades for the return of dozens of Greek Cypriot works of art to their rightful owners.

The artist states that the exhibition of his works entitled "Famagusta Obscura" aims to stimulate interest in the occupied city of Famagusta, which has been forcibly occupied by the Turkish army for almost half a century. He dedicates it to the memory of M. Jius Payata. Umit Inaci says that, together with Mr. Jius Payata, they had come up with the idea of organizing an art exhibition with exhibits by artists from both communities, which would be donated to the Municipality of Famagusta in order to create a future Museum of Contemporary Art. Umit Inaci invites all artists to donate their work to the Municipality of Famagusta so that the original idea can be turned into action. He makes the beginning himself by donating a project of his to the Municipality of Famagusta.

The painting exhibition is under the auspices of the Mayor of Famagusta, Mr. Alexis Galanou, while the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Nikos Christodoulidis will address the opening speech. The art historian, Mrs. Anna Marangou will introduce the exhibition with a critical approach.
