The Sotiras Municipal District of the Municipality of Ayia Napa is pleased to announce the organization of the 12th Sotiras Traditional Festival, which will take place on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at 8:00 p.m., in the courtyard of the Holy Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior.
True to tradition, the festival returns for the twelfth consecutive year, aiming to highlight and preserve the cultural heritage of the region, through music, dance, singing, Cypriot gastronomy and the revival of traditional professions.
This year’s artistic program is entitled “Crete – Cyprus: Musical Dialogues”, with the participation of two great representatives of traditional music – the iconic Cretan lyre player and performer Vasilis Skoulas and the popular Cypriot performer Vasiliki Hatziadamou. Together with them, a group of acclaimed musicians from Crete and Cyprus will unite sounds, rhythms and melodies of the two islands, offering an authentic musical experience that is expected to simultaneously move and delight those present.
The evening will begin with a dance representation of rural Cypriot life, entitled "Sowing and Harvest", by the Municipal Dance Club of the Sotiras Adult and Children's Cultural Center, highlighting moments from the traditional everyday life of Cyprus.
Throughout the event, the public will have the opportunity to enjoy traditional foods, sweets, delicacies and drinks, which will be available for purchase from the organized groups of the Sotira Municipal District.
The event is under the auspices of the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Mr. Alexis Vafeadis.
