Crowds at the 43rd Pancyprian Festival of the Savior Colloquium (BINTEO + IMAGES)

The 20rd Pancyprian Festival of Kolokassi-Sotiras was successfully held last night (Friday, September 43), organized by the Municipality of Sotiras in collaboration with the local organization of producers.

More than four thousand visitors had the opportunity to try more than ten traditional and alternative recipes based on Kolokasi Sotiras by distinguished chefs, as well as other dishes based on the local product of Sotira.

The Government was represented by the Deputy Minister of Shipping while the Festival was attended by the Ambassador of Portugal, the Secretary of the Council of Ministers, the President of DISY, the Mayors and Commonwealths of Free Famagusta, MPs and the directors of Marini and Agra

In her greeting, Deputy Minister of Shipping Natasa Pileidou said that both the Ministry and the Government applaud and encourage such actions and events that promote our culture, while contributing to the training of local and foreign visitors with traditional products.

For his part, the Mayor of Sotiras, George Takkas pointed out the fact that the Municipality of Sotiras in recent years has received obvious and promising changes for development. Changes that benefit the living standards of citizens, that contribute to the local and national economy and encourage the prospect of prosperity in a community that in previous years was solely dependent solely on agricultural production.

Christos Nikolopoulos, Pizza Papadopoulou, Stelios Dionysiou and Aspasia Stratigou enriched the artistic program of the evening while they were honored by the Municipality of Sotiras for their important contribution to Greek music as well as for their presence at the Festival.

It is pointed out that the local products of Sotira Kolokasi Sotiras and Kolokasi-Poules Sotiras have been registered in 2016 by the European Commission as Products with Designation of Origin while the Municipality of Sotiras in collaboration with the producer organization are launching major promotion campaigns abroad in well-known supermarket chains.
