An honorary evening dedicated to our renowned folk poet and writer Pantelis N. Kakolis is being organized on Wednesday, February 05, 2025 at the Multipurpose Center of the Liopetri Municipal District of the Municipality of Ayia Napa, at 18:30 PM by the Pancyprian Association of Folk Poets and Friends of Poetry and the Liopetri SKE.
During the event, there will also be a presentation of his poetry collection entitled “Ninety Years”. The main speaker is Dr. Costas Katsonis, while the event will be accompanied by the musical ensemble “Proskinetes”.
The event is under the auspices of the Deputy Minister of Culture Dr. Vasiliki Kassianidou and the Mayor of Ayia Napa Mr. Christos Zannetou.
Pantelis N. Kakolis, who is among the most important dialectical poets of his generation, was born on December 12, 1933 in Liopetri and expressed his love for poetry from his youth.
He lived in Manchester from 1956 to 1996, with his family, where he developed social action for the benefit of the Greek community. Upon his repatriation, he assumed the duties of cultural advisor to the Liopetri Community Council, a position from which he offered his services pro bono for more than twenty years.
His rich literary work, in addition to 13 poetry collections, also includes the "Research - Recording of the Liopetri Family Tree 1825 - 2002". For his contribution to poetry and for his social work, he has been honored by various bodies in Cyprus and abroad.
