Successful 8th Traditional Savior Festival (VIDEO + IMAGES)

The 2th Traditional Festival of the Municipality of Sotira was held with great success on Monday, July 8, in the courtyard of the two Holy Temples of the Transfiguration of the Savior.

Many people attended the event, which according to the Municipality of Sotiras aims to promote cultural heritage through a Festival that highlights Cypriot gastronomy, music tradition and revives traditional professions.

Traditional professions such as zivania and palouze, pottery, basket weaving, loom, pithkiali and carriage were revived at the Festival, while visitors had the opportunity to try free palouze and zivania and children to participate in pottery.

At the same time, traditional Cypriot delicacies were offered with the participation of the organized groups of the Savior with the main part of the proceeds being allocated for the needs of the solidarity fund of the Church of the Savior as well as for the strengthening of the organized groups.

The artistic program included a concert with two of the most important voices of the modern Cypriot music tradition, Vasiliki Hatziadamou and Petros Kouloumi, renowned by renowned musicians.

The event was also attended by folk poets Adamos Peratikos, Andreas Antzoulis, Andreas Christakkos, Dimitris Potamos, Elias Hatzimichael, Thomas Thomas, Ioannis Efstathiou, Konstantinos Grilias and erotic couplets.

In his greeting, Mayor Sotiras, George Takkas, stressed that the event is an anthem to the folk heritage and an ode to folklore as well as an opportunity to highlight the manifestations of Cypriot life. Based on these important elements of culture and the demands of the local community, said Mr. Takkas, the Municipality of Sotiras works methodically with the sole aim of sustainable development that will occur through projects that will offer progress and prosperity to the Municipality. He then referred to the large number that have been trampled, are in progress or completed in the Municipality of Sotira, such as the Municipal Stadium, cost more than one million, the Social Welfare Center 1,5 million, the planning for the creation of 5 by 5 stadiums, the renovation of SKE Sotiras Nursery School, the renovation and reconstruction of roads, such as Anastaseos, Akropoleos, Dimokratias, Griva Digeni, Kyriakou Matsi, Sotiras-Deryneia roads and the repair of rural roads. He also referred to the very important projects for which the plans have been completed, such as the renovation of the Central Square of the Savior and the entire coastal front.
