The Little Rebetes present a great concert-tribute to Markos Vamvakaris, the “patriarch” of rebetiko, the “Generarch” of the bouzouki, one of the founders of Greek song.
The concert will take place on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at 18:00 PM at the Sotiras Municipal Theater.
A few words
Markos Vamvakaris had a natural talent as a musical creator, an authentic relationship with his material, with himself and with the social environment. He had great love and dedication to what he did. True, tender, but also hard, songs of pain and misery but at the same time redemptive, like all true works of Art. The youth today is crazy about the songs of Markos Vamvakaris. Everywhere we meet youth groups playing his creations. In taverns, in taverns, at student concerts, on the street…
Markos' songs have a prominent place in the field of our urban youth, everyday culture.
Despite the many decades that have passed, they continue to be beloved and it seems that their fame will reach even further.
The Little Rebetes will sing some of Markos Vamvakaris' timeless songs such as
Your eyelids shine, French-Syrian, dawn is three o'clock, your jealous eyes, you build your nest high, all the Rebetes of the world, I fell ill in your foreign lands, black eyes, black eyebrows, I got engaged when I was young, The prisons echo, and many other beloved...
The Little Rebetes will be accompanied by the renowned musicians:
Andreas Georgiou on the three-string bouzouki
Kyriakos Gouventas on Violin / Baglama
