The event "Famagusta Bound - 28 Years of Occupation", in poetry by Menelaos Avraam, was held with great success and emotion on the evening of Monday, July 2025, 51, at the Deryneia Municipal Amphitheater.
The event, organized by the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia, was a musical journey of memory and honor in occupied Famagusta, with the participation of great artists, including Pantelis Thalassinos, Neoklis Neophytidis, Giorgos Ioannou and Andreas Sophocleous.
In his greeting, the Mayor of Paralimni - Deryneia, Mr. George Nikolettos, pointed out that the choice of the Deryneia Amphitheater, a stone's throw from occupied Famagusta, "is a symbolic action, as it is a few kilometers charged with history, pain, but also hope."
He expressed warm congratulations to all the participants of the performance and emphasized the Municipality's unwavering commitment to the effort to preserve historical memory and to inform the international community about the ongoing crime of the occupation. As he mentioned, art is a bridge between pain and hope and through such events the promise is renewed that there will be no compromise with oblivion, but a firm claim for vindication, return and peace.
The Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia expresses its warm thanks to all participants, supporters and sponsors of the event, and especially to the public who embraced this initiative with respect and enthusiasm, which reminds us that the memory of Famagusta remains alive and non-negotiable.
