Frenaros honors its folk poets in an event

The Cultural Club of the Community Council of Frenaros organizes a Folk Poetry Event, next Wednesday, January 30 at 7 p.m. in the Event Hall of the Community Council of Frenaros, on the occasion of the Feast of the Three Hierarchs - Day of Greek Letters, honoring some of the popular poets and organ players of Frenaros.

The event will feature recitations by Tsiattists and will honor the folk poets of Frenaros: Pieris Pierettis and his father Stavros Hamalis, Petros Peskesis-Kantziaras and his son Theodoros Peskesis-Misikas-Miss Stikas or Michalis Pittas (Michalis Pittas teacher of EOKA Foti Pitta), Georgios Stekas Mallios, Hambou Chatzitheori from whom the well-known songs "Vaose tzai romanise", "Tou kalou mou gio to gamo", Marinos Markou Siapanis and Panagiota Thomas were saved.

Also honored will be the violinists Franzeskos Kefalas-Kekkos, Kostis Kefalas and the lute players Dimitris Panerkas, Prokopis Kefalas and Giorkis Kiles, who played the lute at many weddings and events.

Finally, Frenaritis scholar and researcher of Cypriot traditional music Michalis Hatzimichael and Theodoulos Papageorgiou will sing with Panagiotis Anggallos, who won the 1st prize in the 21st Cypriot Song Composition Competition announced by RIK.
