And when you said that you have seen everything in the cinema or you thought that "Batman v Superman»Pulled a lot, the cinema does not stop surprising us.

Here, of course, we have him at his extreme, in a film that pushes the medium itself to make a complete comment on how and what you see on the big screen.

In other words, we are talking about a 720-hour movie that will be played only once in a dark room and then deleted!

Yes, you read that right, "after the one and only screening of 720 hours of '' Ambiancé '', the film will be deleted", confirms its creator. "Nothing will be left of it."

Only the memories will remain in the contributors and a few printed frames in the rest of us. The creator is already selling a framed one καρέ of the film each month, a photographic snapshot in a limited number of 100 copies, numbered and signed.

When the month has passed, "the frame goes out and can not be resold". But the Swedish "Ambiancé" has other strange hopes. And we're not just talking about the 7-hour, 20-minute trailer.

It is funded exclusively by its creator, as "I do this project for myself and I do not want anyone else to get involved. And, to be honest, who would ever be interested in investing in something like this?

The greatest movie of all time?

People first came in contact with the swan song of the Swedish artist Anders Weberg a few years ago, in 2014, when he released the first short teaser trailer with a duration of 72 minutes. Teaser trailer over an hour!

Typographical error or bad taste was believed by the people and so he continued to believe it when the experimental creator stated that his film, the last film of his career, will last 720 hours. That is a whole month! A viewing experience that obviously requires much more than a few jars of patience.

Weberg then aroused more interest, the lively interest, in a film whose very duration seems scary and discouraging. He said he plans to have his film screened in a single "simultaneous screening on all continents" and then destroyed.

Weberg counts in his 20-year career more than 300 non-narrative films, experimental creations that are obviously not for everyone. In 2016, it hit again with the short trailer of 439 minutes. To say it again, short trailer over 7 hours!

In 2018, the regular trailer, lasting 72 hours, was to be released, which, however, the creator bypassed, as December 31, 2020 was short-lived and obviously did not want to give more images than his magnum opus. He has chosen the last day of the year for the premiere and the curtain of his film at the same time.

Weberg's ambitious project will leave an era for many different reasons. Whether one wants it or not. In defiance of even the medium he uses to unfold his surreal vision…

What is;

Anyone who admires Bella Tar's 7,5-hour Hungarian drama "Sátántangó" (1994) or is a fan of his films Filipino auteur Love Diaz who consistently exceed 5 hours, knows well the kind of magic that movies that last a long time offer.

Ή Enjoy experimental epics such as "The Clock" (2010) or "24 Hour Psycho" (1993), which lock the clock in 24 hours of continuous viewing. Do you want something stronger? "Modern Times Forever" of 2011, a film by a group of artists from Denmark that lasts 10 days (240 hours). For strong nerves and cinephilic eyes, alas.

Weberg's film, which sent marketing and promotion fooling around on a beach, will be for the press "the greatest film of all time". With a footnote here: "The greatest film of all time that does not exist", as its creator observes.

This is because it will be an extremely mortal film, since it will die as soon as it is born. These would be really clumsy advertising tricks if the film itself did not throw them out. Who will sit down to watch a 7 hour trailer? Or will he judge from the 7-hour trailer if the film won him over to spend 30 days in the cinema?

And of course the Swedish creator knows that his film is not the biggest in the world. It is impossible that he has not heard of the "Logistics" (Logistics Art Project) of his compatriots, an experimental film of 2012 that sent the clock at 51.420 minutes!

Erika Magnusson and Daniel Andersson unfolded the story of making a gadget from its production in China to its sale in a Stockholm store in 857 hours. Ή 35 days and 17 hours, if you prefer.

Weberg does not care about all this, after all, he does not make a narrative film to treat such media. What he does is make a comment on Bergman's sweeping masterpiece "Seventh sealIn 1957, returning to the same region of southern Sweden with two performance artists, on the beach where his great compatriot shot one of the best films of all time. And the typical scene with chess and Charos.

There are no cuts or montages here. It will be a monoplane, a monoplane of unimaginable dimensions that will slowly and lazily describe a dream trip, a conversation of two different locations, two different eras.

What does Weberg want to comment on with his particular creation? First and foremost, to complain about so many remakes of old and classic movies. This entertainment industry that presses and exploits dryly the timeless allure of the masterpieces of the seventh art.

And to do that, he fell on his face at work. To complete his film odyssey on schedule, he is required to prepare at least 7-8 final footage per week. Final material, not shooting.

In 2016 he stated that he had already prepared the first 400 hours of his black and white work, where "time and space are intertwined in a surreal journey like όνειρο, beyond natural parts, and is an abstract, non-linear narrative summary of the time the artist spent with the animation. A kind of autobiographical film »…

The most boring movie of all time?

ammvoainnceefef3 DURATION, movie

Who will sit in a movie theater for a whole month? And what about his natural, human needs? Questions that do not naturally concern the director, as he has his own way to go.

Despite the headlines, Weberg neither wants to break the record nor, of course, expects people to take time off work and close in the world's cinemas.

Known on the world experimental stage, the Swedish director has made several films that explore the meaning of the ephemeral and the timeless. In fact, he deletes most of them after their screening. "The idea behind his disappearance film "It's something I've thought about a lot and done many times in the past."

And he did the same with the 2014 trailer of 72 minutes. He downloaded it. "It's very easy to create something in the digital world. "It's harder to erase it," he said at the time.

However, 1,6 million people managed to see it! The "mammoth" of 1 minutes has another 440 million views. Someone even "ran" it, concentrating 7 hours in just 1 minute…

So there is interest, if nothing else, and the 50-year-old creator has chosen this way to say goodbye to cinema, a medium that he loved and served warmly. Although for him it was always animation rather than cinema in the sense that most of us attribute.

As he has said in a handful of interviews he has given for his upcoming film, he is interested in time and how we use it. He does not expect people to see his film, "not even half of them will see it", says the diverse artist of 500 videos, films and video clip.

And despite the fact that his venture caught on in the first phase, having played in all the major media worldwide, he is not interested in such small and vile. It is the work of his life, the work with which he says "goodbye" to the cinema and carries his memories and his own life.

The connection of the scenes is not chronological, but emotional, as he reveals. He prefers to call it "personal film", leaving the terms "experimental" and "avant-garde" for critics.

The film is also intertwined with his life, containing scenes from the old and others that are constantly changing. In 2014, he tells us, a month before the 72-minute trailer premiered at a French festival, Weberg found his eldest son dead from a drug overdose.

"It simply came to our notice then. In deep mourning, I re-assembled the teaser to include scenes that were for him. Then I uploaded it online, I left it there for 2 weeks, downloaded it and turned it off. As well as all the material with which I made it ".

ammvoainnceefef7 DURATION, movie

"Ambiancé" has been worked on by Weberg for the last 20 years. He is made with his own life. The life of a man who has no problem making fun of himself, stating that "I have to be the most famous unknown director at the moment".

A man who has so far spent 5.760 hours (240 days) on filming and 8.640 hours (360 days) on editing. Almost two years (600 days) of his life. Ή 14.400 hours, as he likes to play with time.

ammvoainnceefef9 DURATION, movie

On December 31, 2020, "the biggest movie that does not exist" will be played for the first and last time. Let's wait to judge her for what she is. Or listen to those who will see it.

Because some will see it. Even in fragments…
