When selfless love, enthusiasm, love for life nest in our hearts, nothing is difficult…

He is a handsome man not only externally but also mentally. He is optimistic, polite and always smiling. Those who know him personally, those who have a friend, a relative are really lucky…
The story of this young man and his wife, confirms to us that one can find happiness as long as one really loves, does not see the wrapper, but seeks the inner world of the other, the depth of his soul. To love the other for what he really is and not for what he would like to be.
Beauty is not a given. None of us has signed a contract of diligence and for this we must invest within ourselves, in our soul, in our people and not in our outward appearance and wealth.
Yes! We are different, maybe some of us have a disability, maybe we all have a part of ourselves that is disabled, some of us can neither speak nor read. But when selfless love, enthusiasm, love for life nest in our hearts, nothing is difficult.
When we truly love, we feel beautiful, happy and above all we understand that we are all people, children of the same God.

Pampos Charalambous reports to ant1ıwo:
"I was born on 7/2/1983 in Paphos and grew up in Argaka. I have a sister who is younger than me.
Unfortunately, when I was just 3 years old, I lost my father in a car accident, he was driving a motorcycle. My mother made sure I had a beautiful childhood, carefree. After the army I went to New York to study. I stayed there from 2003 to 2007 and studied Information Technology. In the summer of 2007 I returned to Cyprus and in 2008 I had a terrible car accident…

I was driving a large engine but I do not remember exactly what happened, I basically do not remember anything from those moments and I never wanted to know. For me, the only thing that counted was the result: a spinal cord injury and since then I have been confined to a wheelchair. I was hospitalized for 2 months in the General Hospital of Nicosia and then 3 months in a hospital in Germany where I went for rehabilitation.
In the beginning everything was very difficult, I was in pain, I was suffering. I felt uncomfortable every time someone looked at me, but I fought it and in the end I managed to come to terms with the new facts of my life. I used to say, yes, I can do whatever I want, with more difficulty of course, but I can. I just can't play football, something I used to love to do. I used to say that positive thinking also creates positive energy, which is essential for my mental health. On the contrary, negative thinking created a negative environment. It makes a lot of sense that when something goes wrong, it takes us down and we only think about the negative event and the consequences it has on our lives. This, however, spoils our psychology and does not allow us to enjoy everyday life and all those moments of happiness that we go through and do not realize. I used to say to myself that I need to cut out bad thoughts and turn them into positive ones, because only then will I get a better psychology and improve my life.
The fact that besides my mother, I also had my friends, helped me a lot. In fact, when I returned from Germany, they were waiting for me to go for coffee together.
I went to the EOKA Fighters' Melathron when I returned from Germany. There I also met my wife, Georgia. She worked there as a physiotherapist. I liked it from the first moment. I said "good morning" to her but she did not answer me. It took me a month to notice him. A very beautiful relationship was created between us, a love that only joy and strength could give me. In 2012 we got married and in November 2013 we had two beautiful twin girls.

 Today…

I am really happy next to my wife and my 2 wonderful children. I do a job I like - I do construction work on metalwork - and I live a normal life. I play basketball, I am in the Wheelchair team of APOP which continues its activity for the second year. I am also a member of several charities with the sole purpose of selfless offering and love for fellow human beings.

 My message…

Man can achieve everything, it is enough to have a will. It may take more effort but it is always worth it. By striving for the impossible, we achieve the best we can. No dream comes true in a magical way. You need to sweat a lot, incredible will and definitely hard work "
