Amazon said today that its cloud services unit, AWS, is experiencing an outage, affecting many popular websites and apps around the world, including Snapchat and Robinhood.
"We can confirm elevated error and downtime rates for multiple AWS Services in the US-EAST-1 region," AWS said in an update to its page.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) startup Perplexity and cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase blamed the outage on AWS.
"Perplexity is currently down. The root cause is an AWS issue. We are working to resolve it," said Perplexity CEO Arvind Srinivas, in a post on X.
AWS and Amazon did not respond to a request for comment.
Amazon.com, PrimeVideo, and Alexa are all experiencing issues, according to Downdetector. Paypal's Venmo is also experiencing issues.
