'Smart cities', ready to welcome the future

Intelligent cities that are several years ahead…

While the idea of ​​making our cities smarter sounds tempting, there are some who worry that as technology evolves, it will become increasingly difficult for citizens to maintain their privacy.

EasyPark Group, a startup that monitors city data, has published the 2017 Smart Cities Index list, which explores which cities are the most prepared for the future. The company analyzed 500 cities around the world and evaluated them based on 18 categories, such as public transport, clean energy, waste disposal, education, the number of hotspots Wifi etc.

See below which cities are in the top ten of the list:

1. COPENHAGEN, DENMARK

Copenhagen has a healthy ecological starting system, a large number of Wifi access points and a relatively low level of traffic congestion. The city is also investing in clean energy, with the goal of reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 100% by 2025.

 

2. Singapore

Singapore has one of the most cost-effective public transport networks in the world, according to a 2014 study by Siemens.

 

3. STOCKHOLM

In Stockholm, much of the city buses and trains run on clean fuel. Renewable energy accounts for 52% of Swedish energy production.
