Antigoni Buxton referred to the close relationship she has with her mother, noting that she has asked to be by her side at the Eurovision 2026 final, specifically expressing her desire to sit on the couch at the moment the results are announced.
The artist who will represent Cyprus in the music competition with "Jalla" was a guest on Monday, April 20, on "The 2Night Show" to talk about her path in music and the importance of family in her professional career.
During the interview, Buxton commented on her mother's role in her life, emphasizing the importance of her presence at the contest: "My parents have always been there for me through everything and my mom will now be there for me at Eurovision, on the couch. I said 'my mom will be on the couch, if she's not my mom, I won't be there'. I want my mom to be there for me always."
The singer then described the influence she received from Elena Paparizou's victory with the song My Number One at Eurovision: "I was obsessed with My Number One and Elena Paparizou. Ever since then I believed that I would go to Eurovision. When I saw her, I said to myself that I would do it too at some point. In previous years I was trying and wondering: 'Will it happen for me?' But I always knew that it would happen, just in time."
The singer's mother, Tonia Buxton, is a British TV presenter and writer of Greek Cypriot origin. In a joint interview she gave with her daughter on "Happy Day" on April 7, she stated, among other things: "Antigone always sang, wherever we went. It's not strange to me that she's going to Eurovision."
