Kate Middleton: "I was diagnosed with cancer" - She announced it herself via video

Kate Middleton's announcement that she has cancer caused worldwide shock. In a video released by Kensington Palace, the Princess of Wales announced tonight that she had been diagnosed with cancer at the age of 42 and was undergoing "preventative" chemotherapy.

In a deeply emotional message, filmed in Windsor on Wednesday, Kate revealed that the news of her health had come as a "huge shock" and that she and William had "done everything we can to process and manage it privately for the sake of our young family.

The news comes several weeks after Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles had been diagnosed with cancer.

Details of Kate Middleton's condition have not been released, but Kensington Palace is confident that the princess will make a full recovery.
