The American actress' manager Donovan Daughtry confirmed the death to The Associated Press.
"As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother," her children's statement said.
Alley was best known for her role as Rebecca on the NBC sitcom Cheers, in which she starred from 1987 to 1993, winning an Emmy and Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in 1991.
