The famous actress passed away at the age of 71.
The American actress died after a short battle with cancer, her children True and Lily Parker said in a post on Twitter, while Alley was also sent a farewell via Instagram by her "Look Who's Talking" co-star John Travolta.
The American actress' manager Donovan Daughtry confirmed the death to The Associated Press.
"As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother," her children's statement said.
Alley was best known for her role as Rebecca on the NBC sitcom Cheers, in which she starred from 1987 to 1993, winning an Emmy and Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in 1991.
