New information that may shed light on the causes that caused the death of Liam Payne of One Direction after diving into the void from a hotel balcony in Argentina, is published by the Daily Mail.
According to the British website, a few days before his death, Payne had been fired from his record company. The 31-year-old singer was signed to Capitol Records in July 2016 when he began his solo career. At the time he himself appeared excited about the agreement. But several sources appear to have confirmed to the Daily Mail that the label had parted ways with Payne.
At the same time, at the beginning of October, Payne's representative had submitted his resignation, as a result of which the singer has no representation in the media. The resignation had come, in fact, at a time when Payne's ex-fiancee, Maya Henry, had started legal proceedings against him, accusing her of trying to get back in touch with her.
“It was like the whole music career he'd built over the last eight years was falling apart. This development must have shocked him," a source told the British website.
"He made no effort to protect himself from the fall"
At the same time, an autopsy indicated that Payne may have been unconscious when he fell from the third-floor balcony.
The report by the competent agency of Argentina states that the position of Payne's body after he hit the ground and the injuries found show that he "did not make any movement to protect himself during the fall" and therefore may have during the fall of "being in a state of partial or complete loss of his senses".
In the same report, it is noted that all indications are that Payne was alone when he fell into the void and that the young singer "was in some form of a drug-induced outburst."
"I heard a loud scream"
Another hotel resident reportedly testified that he heard "a loud, violent scream" from Payne's room shortly before he fell.
As reported by People.com the hotel tenant reportedly said that he heard "a lot of noise" from the singer's room in the minutes before his death.
"At first I thought they were doing some kind of work in the room," he reportedly said, describing the sounds as something heavy being moved or something being hit.
The resident reportedly said he then saw hotel staff "coming in and out" of Payne's room as well as new noises from the room until 16:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon (Argentine time).
