Today, Tuesday (31/3) relatives, friends, colleagues and admirers will say the last "goodbye" to the "priestess" of the Greek pentagram, Marinella who passed away on March 28.
Since the morning, people have begun gathering at the Metropolis of Athens to bid farewell to the great performer.
A queue has formed outside the chapel of the Metropolis where her body is being placed for public veneration.
Her family announced that: "We will say goodbye to our beloved Marinella on Tuesday, March 31st at 14:00 PM, from the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens."
Her family is asking for donations to "Floga" instead of wreaths.
"Her body will lie in state for worship at the chapel of the Holy Church of Agios Eleftherios from 8:00 to 13:00. The burial will take place in a close family circle. In lieu of wreaths, donations are requested to be made to "Floga", the Association of Parents of Children with Neoplastic Diseases," the announcement states.
Marinella, Kyriaki Papadopoulou, was one of the most important and iconic singers of the Greek music scene, with her voice marking people's lives.
With a career spanning six decades, Marinella became one of the most successful and recognizable voices in Greece. The great singer, who believed that age was just a number, was active until her last day. She had released more than 60 albums and performed songs that are an important part of the Greek musical tradition.
