In the midst of the Sean 'Diddy' Combs (Puff Daddy) scandal, Jay-Z is now also accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl.
Famous rapper Jay-Z, husband of Beyoncé, is accused of sexually abusing a minor, along with Sean 'Diddy' Combs (Puff Daddy), according to a lawsuit filed on Sunday (08.12.2024).
According to the lawsuit, the assault happened in 2000 at an after-party for the MTV Video Music Awards, according to the complainant, referred to as Jane Doe.
The woman accusing the rapper claims the attack took place at an afterparty after the event, which took place on September 7, 2000 at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
She claims she became dizzy after having a drink at the party and wandered into a nearby bedroom, and that Carter raped her first, followed by Cobbs. The woman says she punched Combs and ran from the party, according to the lawsuit.
Jay-Z issued a lengthy statement denying the allegations.
In his response to CNN — which was addressed to Doe's attorney — Carter called the mediation request "an attempt at blackmail."
"The record speaks for itself. This is a very serious matter that will be heard in court."
The musician continued: “These allegations are so heinous in nature that I implore you to file criminal charges, not civil ones!!! Anyone who would commit such a crime against a minor should be in jail, don't you agree?
These alleged victims would deserve real justice if that were to happen. This lawyer, who I have done a little research on, seems to have a pattern of this kind of theatrics!
Jay-Z, who has three children from his 16-year marriage to Beyoncé, referred to his family in his response.
"My only heartache is for my family," Jay-Z said. "My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at an age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these allegations, and explain the cruelty and greed of people".
Jay-Z, 55, said he is disappointed that his children will have to hear these allegations.
"Children should not have to endure this at a young age. It is unfair that they should try to understand inexplicable degrees of evil that are meant to destroy families and the human spirit."
In September 2024, Puff Daddy was arrested in Manhattan on charges of extortion, trafficking in persons for prostitution and "creating a criminal organization in which he abused and threatened women and others around him to satisfy his sexual desires, protect his reputation, and to hide his behavior".
Cobbs is in federal custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. His trial is scheduled to begin on May 5, 2025.
