The Athens Court of First Instance prosecutor's office has initiated criminal proceedings for two misdemeanors against singer Christos Mastoras, who was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in central Athens.
Specifically, the singer, who was referred to the Criminal Court for trial, was charged with dangerous driving that could endanger a person and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Christos Mastoras was brought before the prosecutor accompanied by his lawyer, Charalambos Lykoudis, wearing handcuffs, a hat, a hood and a mask. According to information, the singer appeared remorseful and apologized for the mistake he allegedly made.
According to the same information, he stated that he did not stop at the traffic police roadblock because, as he claims, he did not understand that they signaled him. He also allegedly denies that he tried to escape, claiming that in this case he would not have gone where there was a second roadblock.
Arrested for drunk driving
Christos Mastoras was arrested at dawn in the center of Athens after being subjected to a breathalyzer test.
According to information, everything happened at around 2.00:XNUMX in the morning at a traffic police checkpoint at the intersection of Stadiou and Aiolou streets. The singer and his vehicle were the third to undergo a breathalyzer test. While the police were checking the first vehicle, he tried to escape the control.
More specifically, according to information from the ELAS, the singer allegedly accelerated, moving towards the police officer, who signaled him to stop, and escaped the roadblock.
Another traffic police team in Omonia Square was immediately informed of the incident by the police. The police at the second block stopped the singer and proceeded to perform a breathalyzer test. His blood alcohol level was above the legal limit and he was arrested.
According to information, the alcohol level was above 0.8, while the limit is 0,25 milligrams per liter of exhaled air.
