Relatives, friends, colleagues and ordinary people are saying their final goodbye today to the great folk singer Katie Gray, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 100.
Her funeral will take place at the Nea Smyrni cemetery at 4 p.m. Her body will be placed in public worship from 12 noon.
According to Katie Gray's wishes and instructions, her friends and colleagues will honor her with two of her favorite songs, "Mountain" and "Foreign Hands," which established her as one of the most important voices of her time.
"The life I chose had many sorrows, but it also had many more joys. I want to thank everyone except a few. In the life I have lived, I have met many good and bad people. The world is not bad, we make it bad. With our vices and jealousies, we make the world bad towards us. I have had my bad times and my good times. I want God to help the orphaned children who suffer a lot. I have suffered a lot in my life. I lost my father. Like everyone else, I have experienced some good and bad times.
"I don't care if Katie Gray will go down in history. I want people to remember me with kindness. Of course, there are some jealous people who always see bad times, that's not true. I want to say a big thank you to God, to people. The world is good, we make the world bad," Katie Gray had said in the video she had requested to be shown after her death.
