Actor Vasilis Bisbikis, who was arrested in the context of a traffic stop, is being taken to the prosecutor's office today, Monday, as he allegedly caused damage to three parked cars and a yard on Doiranis Street in Filothei, in the early hours of Saturday (27/09).
The 48-year-old then allegedly abandoned his own agricultural vehicle at a distance of 400 meters and on the same day appeared on a television show, while the traffic police procedure had been activated as complaints were made by the owners of the damaged vehicles to the Hellenic Police.
Afterwards, the actor voluntarily presented himself at the Kifissia Traffic Police Station to give explanations, while admitting to the police that he was driving the monstrous vehicle, which has also suffered extensive damage and is in a seizure status. However, this does not absolve him of his criminal responsibilities and he was arrested.
In a video, the actor is seen among those attending an outdoor Cretan party in Metamorfosi where a violent brawl took place, leaving three people injured. The possibility that he was driving under the influence of alcohol in the early hours of Saturday morning is being investigated.
It should be noted that based on the new Penal Code, causing damage and abandoning the sign constitute a misdemeanor.
Specifically, leaving the scene of a traffic accident with material damage (as referred to in Article 43 of the old Road Traffic Code) provides for penalties concerning the driver, such as a fine, revocation of the driver's license and criminal prosecution under Article 290A of the Criminal Code for dangerous driving. The exact penalties and their escalation depend on whether the driver is a repeat offender, with the first recidivism leading to higher fines and periods of license revocation, and further recidivism leading to even more severe penalties.
