Eurovision: With a contest and public votes, Greece will decide who it will send to the event

ERT revealed that this year's selection of the artist who will represent Greece in this year's Eurovision will be done in a different way.

Although last year Marina Satti found herself directly assigned to the competition, this time things seem to be changing.

As announced by the CEO of ERT, Katerina Kaskanioti, the artist who will travel to Switzerland this year will be chosen after an invitation from the record companies who will be able to submit their proposals. After that, it all depends on the votes of the public.

He even pointed out that this process has been happening for about 22 years. "The selection of the artist and the song, which will represent us in May at Eurovision, will be done through a competitive process. The representative of our country will be chosen with the participation of the public in the voting. The details of the process will be known in the coming days," he said.

Switzerland's national broadcaster SSR SRG announced some time ago the city that will host the 69th Eurovision Song Contest on May 17, 2025.

Basel will be the third Swiss city to have this honor after Lugano in 1956 and Lausanne in 1989.

Basel suggests determination and creativity. It has experience in organizing major events such as Art Basel and Fasnacht, while the communications agency Farner has been brought in to highlight the city's virtues through media and social networks.

The mostly German-speaking city on the Rhine was chosen over Geneva in a matchup that created buzz and anticipation across Switzerland.

The St. The 12.000-seat Jakobshalle will be the venue for the competition.

The Alpine country won the right to host the annual glitzy song-and-dance extravaganza, which attracts hundreds of millions of viewers worldwide, after Nemo won the 68th edition of the competition last May.
