Philippos Sofianos spoke" about the #metoo movement, pointing out that it came to the surface slowly and was dealt with superficially from within.
Speaking on the "Kalytera Arga" show, he emphasized that serious voices were not heard, while often the discussion was limited to superficial comments without depth.
He opined that intellectuals refrained from speaking out for fear of being labeled graphic. Finally, regarding television, he added that the phrase "this is what the viewer wants" should stop, as he believes that the viewer sees what is offered to him, while there is purpose behind maintaining superficial information.
He initially stated: “The #metoo case is long overdue. We took it a bit too lightly, it was consumed too much in morning zone shows. No serious people spoke, everyone said their long and short on both sides and many goals were scored on both sides. The intellectuals did not sit down to talk seriously."
He then added: “Anyone who tries to form by argument a different view from the surrounding one is in danger of being called graphic. That's why I think people of the spirit have stopped talking. There is a carnage, we can isolate a sentence, get a caption from there and who collects the victims afterwards".
Finally, regarding television and the way it works, he stated: ""This is what the viewer wants" must stop. The viewer does not know what he wants, it is his home, he will open and see what you will give him. There are those responsible for this, I think there is a purpose that we stay on the surface of things".
