Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters: New Miss World Speaks Out Against Sexual Abuse and Wins Judges

Η Half-Leigh Nel-Peters, the new "Miss World", shortly after her coronation united her voice with that of women who speak openly about sexual harassment. "If women join hands and stand together, nothing can defeat us," said the 22-year-old from South Africa. We can say no to things that are not right at work and at home and wherever we go».

The revelations about his actions have created a wave of revelations about sexual harassment by politicians, actors and Hollywood powers. In the beauty contest, the issue arose when asked how important it is for men and women to work together to combat sexual harassment.

The new Miss World, however, aroused the interest of the judges with two more passions: the struggle for equal pay for both sexes in the workplace and the importance of educating women in Self-defense.

One month after her coronation as Miss South Africa, Nel-Peters was attacked and threatened with a gun. This frightening experience led her to launch a personal campaign to promote self-defense, called "Unbreakable". The main goal of the campaign is to provide the appropriate knowledge and the necessary skills to women, in order to be ready if they are ever found in a similar situation, not only mentally but also physically.

Nel-Peters is a graduate of South Africa's North West University with a degree in business administration, but as she told the judges, what is the biggest motivation in her life is her 10-year-old half-sister, Franje: "My half-sister was born without a cerebellum and is completely disabled. She is my biggest motivation and inspiration, because her condition makes me realize how special life is and I always want to work twice as hard to enjoy life twice as much, in order to enjoy it on its behalf. So, every experience I have is much more special ".

The second runner-up, 21-year-old "Miss Jamaica" Davina Bennett, stated that sexual harassment is a form of abuse and that any kind of abuse should not be tolerated, either at work or in society.
