The most common myths about the egg

Egg is one of the foods that have many nutritional benefits, while probably not accidentally, experts describe it as the "perfect food". However, it is also one of the most misunderstood foods, as it is accompanied by various myths, which now look like facts and have to do with how beneficial it is ultimately for our health.

See below what are the most common myths about the egg.

Increases cholesterol

Due to the increased cholesterol content of the yolk for several years, the egg was almost banned in people with cardiovascular disease and high cholesterol. However, according to scientific research, this myth has been debunked and it has been proven that it is not egg cholesterol that raises blood cholesterol, but the consumption of saturated fats found in animal foods.

The white eggs are of superior quality

The color of the eggs depends exclusively on the color of the hen that lays them. White hens make white eggs and brown ones brown. The color has nothing to do with the quality of the egg. So white is not superior in quality.

We should not eat one day egg

And yet, eggs - experts say - are safe to eat from day one. In fact, from the 1st to the 4th day they are considered extra fresh or daily.

Athletes should consume only egg white

The idea that athletes should eat only egg whites and not egg yolk is very common, but it is not true. This only applies to athletes who need to consume more than one egg a day in order to increase their daily protein intake.
