There is no woman who does not experience sexism every day of her life, in smaller or larger doses, whether it means that a man will make her feel uncomfortable on the street, or that a male colleague will impose his opinion on her own. at a corporate meeting, or how - as Hollywood has shown lately - she will be sexually harassed in one way or another. And the worst part is that society itself has made women ashamed or even afraid to talk about the sexism they accept, let alone go against it.

The Twitter user, Gem Short, having as a cause the latest scandals of abuse of women, uploaded a very specific list to her account the other day, wanting to give inspiration, strength and impetus to women to take their lives in their own hands without fears and inhibitions.

Short made a list of 9 things and called it "Good statements that women should practice". Her list was so good, as you will see below, that it quickly went viral and so far has been republished over 105.000 times on the platform and has collected over 270.000 likes.

The 9 statements she quotes are simple, clear, accurate and can be used by any woman when she is confronted with an annoying / sexist behavior.

  1. You interrupted me. I have not completed.
  2. No
  3. This is not funny
  4. This is not appropriate
  5. I already knew that
  6. No need
  7. Leave me alone
  8. You make me feel uncomfortable
  9. Stop ignoring what I say

The positive response to Short's tweet was great, from stars like Chrissy Teigen who wrote, retweeting the list, "Apart from 'no', I honestly don't think I've ever uttered these statements and I just shudder at the thought of I tell them. This is not right. Good post, good post ":

To ordinary people, like another Twitter user, who printed the list and pasted it on her desk to see her every day and remember how she should behave like a woman in her work environment.

Well done to Short and hopefully soon no woman will need a list to find the courage to fight for her rights.
