Say GOODBYE to warts, with just one laser session

How often is it?

About 30% to 50%, mainly of young people, have been affected by warts. The percentage depends on the sex education of the population. In HIV-positive patients the percentage can exceed 90%. The disease most commonly affects young people aged 20 to 30 years with an equal distribution between the sexes. Those who have remained incurable, carry the disease until old age.

What causes them?

Warts are a sexually transmitted disease and the papillomavirus HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) is responsible for both transmission and disease in humans. Especially for perianal warts, as well as those of the perineum, sexual intercourse with this anatomical area is not mandatory, but contamination through fluids from neighboring areas is sufficient. In the international literature there are reports of transmission through contaminated liquids to towels, furniture or other objects, as well as toilets. The virus has more than 130 strains. Of these, 40 are responsible for perinatal warts. 90% of warts are due to strains 6 and 11 that have a low degree of carcinogenicity (as well as strains 42, 43, 44). We should not forget that some strains (16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52) are considered quite aggressive and with a high degree of carcinogenicity.

How do I know if I have warts?

The incubation period (period from the transmission of the virus to the appearance of warts) is from a few days to eight months. In some patients the virus may be in a "latent state" (ie not appearing as a dermal formation and not visually detectable) for a long time (even years) until the patient has a weakened immune system, usually after from a stressful stimulus (eg period of high stress, occurrence of another disease, injury, etc.). During this time the patient can transmit the virus.

In most cases the warts are found by the patient himself by direct vision or palpation of the skin formations. Most people are unaware of this, thinking that it's new. This usually happens when the number of formations is small. Some patients have mild itching (itching). After two years, the formations may recede, even disappear completely, but the virus remains active and contagious.

The final diagnosis is made by experienced Doctor. The appearance of the formations is usually characteristic. In case of any doubt, an examination can be performed with special chemical agents that reveal the identity of the formations, or even a histological examination can be sent.

Is warts dangerous?

Delayed seeking help from a qualified doctor can make it difficult to treat warts, as over time the formations can become monstrous, or disappear so that the areas under which the virus "lives" can not be detected. Also, in some patients, warts can cause ulcers (rupture of the skin) and be followed by bleeding or microbial infection (especially in the anal area). Some patients may experience psychological problems mainly due to the deformity they cause. We should also not forget that in some patients warts, if left untreated, can lead to dysplasia or even cancer.

How is it treated?

To date, various therapeutic methods have been tried, both conservative (pharmaceutical) and invasive. Most have been shown to have a high rate of recurrence and recurrence of the disease. LASER sublimation of warts assisted by the use of chemoprophylactic drugs after surgery, has excellent results.

The aforementioned method is painless, bloodless, has the lowest recurrence rates and fast healing with excellent aesthetic results. The main success factor of the treatment is the timely treatment as it reduces the possibility of recurrence, as well as the possibility of cancer.
