For a few days now - and specifically since Shrove Monday - we have been going through the period of Lent and there are many who are fasting. In other words, they abstain from either meat or meat and dairy products.
The truth is that fasting, apart from the religious reasons that one can do it, is also a good opportunity to detoxify the body. For whatever reason you are fasting, during this period there are several foods that provide you with the necessary proteins that your body needs.
There are, however, some superfoods that you should include in your diet now that you are fasting to have the energy you need.
See what they are:
Nuts: A small amount is enough to provide the body with energy, plant proteins, vitamins and minerals such as calcium, iron, potassium, magnesium and copper.
Legumes: One of the most important sources of energy due to the vegetable protein they contain. It is rich in calcium, folic acid, magnesium, while they do not contain saturated fats.
Soy: Contains vegetable proteins, which are a substitute for animal products, while it is a source of magnesium. Fiber also promotes satiety.
Tahinj: It is rich in nutrients. It is a source of vitamins B1, B2 and E, while it plays an important role in the good and antioxidant function of the body.
Leafy green vegetables: It is rich in fiber, vitamins and antioxidants. Broccoli, in particular, helps absorb iron, being rich in vitamin C, A and E.
