The health benefits of sex are generally known but now comes another correlation with memory. Study has shown how frequent sexual activity can affect and enhance our memory.

According to the relevant study, women with an active sexual life achieve better scores in the evaluation tests of the so-called active memory, which is responsible for the temporary storage and processing of information.

In their study, Canadian scientists asked 78 young women (aged 28 to 29) how often they had sex and then underwent a series of memory tests. The tests concerned the memorization and recall of words and persons in order to evaluate the function of their active memory.

The women who had sex more often were the ones who scored the highest on the tests, which, according to scientists, is due - at least in part - to the positive effect of sex on brain function. In fact, it was observed that the most sexually active women performed better at memorizing words than faces. How is this explained? According to scientists, word processing is controlled by the hippocampus, while other areas of the brain are involved in memorizing faces.

Although only women participated in the new study, similar research in the past has shown that frequent sex has the same benefits for men.
